Who Owns Our Water?
Water is essential to every community, but decisions about who owns, operates and controls our water systems can have lasting consequences.
Join us for a community town hall exploring the future of water in Ontario and Waterloo Region, including the potential impacts of water privatization and recent provincial legislation.
We’ll be joined by MPP Catherine Fife, MPP Aislinn Clancy, a CUPE water worker, and an academic water expert for a moderated conversation about what is changing, what the evidence tells us, and what these changes could mean for residents.
The discussion will explore the potential impacts of Bill 60, Bill 98 and water privatization on affordability, public health, accountability and the future of water services in Waterloo Region. The evening will include opening remarks from CUPE Ontario President, Yolanda McClean, a moderated panel discussion and closing remarks on next steps from a CUPE perspective.
Water is essential to life. The decisions we make about it affect all of us.
